Just wanted to say hello and let you know that there is another Mark Sharpe out there. I also love golf, and played the Old Course a few years back. I was born in the UK but came to Canada when I was 2.

I regret to read that you are attempting to understand your feelings: this has been the main pursuit of Woody Allen, who has apparently been under psychiatric care for most of his adult life. Besides, as a learned philosopher opined, “Life is a comedy to those who think and a tragedy to those who feel.” This explains why thoughtful people often break out laughing when playing golf and conversely, why sensitive folks find the game thoroughly depressing.
As for the intrepid Tiger, you are making a tempest in a teapot. The accompanying photograph was taken recently in Hawaii, just after Tiger had sliced his drive into a large water hazard (i.e., The Pacific Ocean). Instead of a drop and penalty stroke, he elected to paddle out and find his ball. Pull yourself together, man!
